I’m actually quite liking Secret’s new Japanese song “Color of Love”, but I am surprisingly not as big of a fan of Jieun’s voice in it. Y’all know that Jieun is my bb and I love her to pieces, but there was a definite change in how she used her voice from Shy Boy onwards. I’ve always thought that Jieun was less of a performer than a singer in that she cared more about singing and was, in fact, a little naïve when it came to needing to mold herself to cater to an audience, but a few years of experience has evidently taught her. The cutesy voice sells, the songs are pitched higher, and add in the simple fact that Jieun’s been working her voice practically nonstop, and Jieun’s voice has become thinner. She even conducts herself differently - she does more ‘eyesmiling’ and such (Although the biggest change in conduct is probably Zinger, who now commits so hard to the aegyo).

So I am going to listen to this, where I first started to love Jieun’s voice - it’s got those characteristics specific to her voice, and at the same time, it’s so strong and clear here. <3
